Install in a minute

  1. Copy the command above. Open PowerShell from the Start menu, paste it and press Enter. The command verifies the download and opens Setup. No administrator terminal is needed. It installs for your Windows account and adds a Start menu shortcut.
  2. Open StillOn. Its ember icon stays in the system tray beside the clock; Windows may place it under the arrow.
  3. Choose your duration and battery limit. Choose Arm next close, then close your laptop. Reopening the lid ends the session.

Tested on x64 Windows; ARM64 has not yet been validated. Requires .NET Framework 4.8 or later, included with current Windows 10 and Windows 11. If it is missing, Setup links to Microsoft’s installer.

Two ways to stay awake

Arm next close temporarily changes the current power plan’s plugged-in and battery lid actions. A separate recovery process restores them on reopen, stop, quit or an app failure. Recovery runs again at your next sign-in after an interrupted shutdown. If another app changes your power plan, the session ends.

Keep Awake blocks idle sleep with the lid open. It leaves the lid action alone. Both modes have a timer and stop at your battery safety limit.

If Windows does not report a laptop lid, the arm button stays unavailable. Keep Awake still works on desktops and virtual machines. Organisation-managed power settings can also prevent arming.

What this beta includes

Lid-close sessions, Keep Awake, timers, battery protection, light and dark appearance, tray controls and the existing StillOn licence. Fn-close gestures, thermal monitoring, agent hooks and automatic agent resume are currently Mac-only.

Tested in a Windows 11 virtual machine. Physical lid sensors, manufacturer power policies and Modern Standby vary by laptop and have not yet completed hardware acceptance. Use a hard, ventilated surface, never a bag.

Windows download warnings

This beta is not yet Authenticode-signed, so Windows may show an unknown-publisher or SmartScreen warning. Only download it here. If your organisation or Windows security policy blocks it, keep that protection enabled and contact [email protected].

Licence and removal

Open Licence in the app to enter the key from your purchase email, check it, or deactivate this PC. To free a device seat, deactivate before uninstalling or use Manage devices.

Quit StillOn from its tray menu, then uninstall it in Windows Settings. The encrypted licence and settings are retained so reinstalling does not restart the trial.
